Publication Ethics
Sangeang Journal is committed to maintaining integrity, transparency, and quality throughout the scholarly publishing process. This publication ethics policy provides guidance for authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher in fulfilling their respective responsibilities professionally and with academic integrity.
This policy is guided by principles of good practice in scholarly publishing, including the guidelines and resources developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Fundamental Principles of Publication Ethics
All parties involved in the publication process are expected to uphold honesty, accuracy, and integrity in research, writing, peer review, and publication.
Manuscripts should be evaluated based on their scholarly quality, relevance, and suitability for the journal without irrelevant discrimination.
Information concerning manuscripts under consideration must be kept confidential by all parties who have authorized access to the manuscript.
All parties should provide relevant information honestly, including potential conflicts of interest and research ethics concerns.
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are fully responsible for the content, originality, and integrity of the manuscript submitted to Sangeang Journal. Authors are expected to:
✓ Present research findings or scholarly analysis honestly and accurately.
✓ Ensure that the manuscript is an original work.
✓ Avoid plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification of data.
✓ Avoid submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
✓ Properly acknowledge and cite all sources used in the manuscript.
✓ Include as authors all individuals who meet appropriate authorship criteria.
✓ Obtain approval from all authors before submitting the manuscript.
✓ Disclose relevant conflicts of interest.
✓ Disclose sources of research funding, where applicable.
✓ Notify the editor promptly if a significant error is identified in a published article.
Originality and Plagiarism
Submitted manuscripts must be original works and must not have been previously published. Authors must not engage in plagiarism, duplicate publication, or simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals.
Manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism or similarity-detection software before or during the editorial process. A manuscript with a similarity level of more than 20% may be returned to the authors for examination and/or revision.
A similarity percentage does not automatically establish plagiarism. Editors may consider the context, sources of similarity, legitimate quotations, references, and other relevant portions of the manuscript when making an editorial assessment.
Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for ensuring that the editorial process is fair, objective, transparent, and consistent with publication ethics standards. Editors are expected to:
✓ Conduct an initial assessment of the manuscript's relevance to the journal's focus and scope.
✓ Ensure that the peer-review process is conducted fairly and objectively.
✓ Select reviewers with appropriate expertise for the manuscript.
✓ Maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and editorial information.
✓ Not use unpublished information for personal advantage.
✓ Avoid conflicts of interest in editorial decision-making.
✓ Make decisions based on scholarly quality, relevance, peer-review results, and ethical considerations.
✓ Address suspected publication ethics violations appropriately.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers assist the editors in evaluating the scholarly quality of submitted manuscripts. Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based assessments.
✓ Conduct reviews objectively and professionally.
✓ Maintain the confidentiality of all information contained in the manuscript.
✓ Not use information obtained from the manuscript for personal advantage.
✓ Identify potential conflicts of interest before accepting a review assignment.
✓ Provide clear, relevant, and constructive comments.
✓ Inform the editor of suspected plagiarism or other ethical concerns.
✓ Complete the review within the agreed timeframe or notify the editor if additional time is required.
Peer Review Process
Sangeang Journal applies a double-blind peer-review process. The identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review process.
Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening may be sent to at least two reviewers with relevant expertise. Editorial decisions take into consideration the review results, scholarly quality, relevance to the journal, and publication ethics.
Accept • Revision Required • Resubmit for Review • Reject
Conflict of Interest
Authors, editors, and reviewers should disclose any conflict of interest that could affect the objectivity of the editorial process or scholarly assessment.
Conflicts of interest may involve professional, personal, financial, institutional, or other relevant interests. Where a conflict could compromise objectivity, the relevant party should inform the editor.
Research Ethics
Research involving human participants, personal data, communities, or research subjects requiring special approval must be conducted in accordance with applicable research ethics principles and regulations.
Authors are responsible for obtaining ethical approval, research permissions, participant consent, or permission to use data and materials where required by the research.
Research Data and Material Integrity
Research data must be reported honestly and must not be manipulated. Fabrication, falsification, deliberate omission of relevant information, or manipulation of research results constitutes a serious violation of scholarly integrity.
Authors should retain relevant research data and documentation in accordance with institutional requirements and applicable regulations so that the research can be appropriately supported and accounted for when necessary.
Corrections, Retractions, and Article Amendments
If a significant error is identified after publication, authors should promptly notify the editor. The editor will evaluate the issue and determine the appropriate editorial action.
Where appropriate, the journal may publish corrections, clarifications, or other editorial notices to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.
Confidentiality
Information and documents obtained during the editorial and peer-review process must be treated as confidential. Such information must not be disclosed to unauthorized individuals without appropriate permission from the editor or responsible party.
Responsibilities of the Publisher
The publisher supports the editors and editorial team in maintaining editorial independence, publication integrity, and the preservation of the scholarly record.
The publisher does not interfere with editorial decisions on the basis of commercial interests or other interests unrelated to scholarly quality and integrity.
Handling Allegations of Publication Ethics Violations
Allegations of publication ethics violations will be taken seriously and assessed on the basis of the information and evidence available. Editors may request clarification or additional information from authors, reviewers, institutions, or other relevant parties.
Plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data, duplicate publication, simultaneous submission, authorship manipulation, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and other forms of misconduct affecting scholarly integrity.
Publication Ethics Reference
Sangeang Journal follows publication ethics principles consistent with good practices in scholarly publishing and refers to the guidelines and resources of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) as one of its references for addressing publication ethics matters.
These principles serve as a reference for maintaining the integrity of editorial processes, peer review, authorship, and the scholarly publication record.
