Abstract

Leadership character is a crucial competency that needs to be cultivated in students to equip them to face social challenges and the demands of a changing era. This character development occurs not only through classroom instruction but also through systematically managed extracurricular activities and student organizations. While various studies have examined the roles of extracurricular activities and student organizations in shaping student character, research integrating both from a management perspective remains relatively limited. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the management of extracurricular activities and student organizations regarding the development of students' leadership character. A qualitative approach utilizing the library research method was employed. Data were gathered from relevant books, journal articles, and research findings, then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results indicate that applying management functions specifically planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation to extracurricular activities and student organizations contributes significantly to the development of students' leadership character. The character traits fostered include responsibility, discipline, communication skills, cooperation, decision-making ability, and self-confidence. Thus, the effective management of extracurricular activities and student organizations can serve as a vital strategy for reinforcing character education, particularly regarding the development of students' leadership character within the school environment.
