Strengthening Citizenship Values and Legal Awareness for Youth in the Environment of Dangin Puri Village, Denpasar

Abstract

Strengthening citizenship values and legal awareness is essential for developing a generation of responsible, participatory, and law-abiding youth. This community service program aimed to enhance young people's understanding of citizenship values and legal awareness in Dangin Puri Village, Denpasar. The program was implemented through socialization activities, legal education, interactive discussions, case-based learning, and question-and-answer sessions. Local youth participated as the primary beneficiaries, supported by village authorities and the implementation team. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of citizenship values, including responsibility, participation, tolerance, and respect for diversity. Furthermore, participants demonstrated increased legal awareness regarding citizens’ rights and obligations, digital ethics, and compliance with applicable regulations. These findings suggest that participatory learning approaches are effective in strengthening civic literacy and legal awareness among youth. Therefore, similar programs should be conducted continuously to support the development of active, responsible, and socially engaged young citizens who can contribute positively to their communities.
